A few weeks ago I read this Scripture in Ephesians that tells us that God called upon us to get out there and walk. No, run, on the road He called us to travel. It’s our job to seek strength in His Spirit, in His teaching, so that we may go out and live and teach and display the love of God. He doesn’t want any of His people, His sons and daughters, to stroll down a path that slowly leads to nowhere. He wants us to travel.
“Do all of this with humility and discipline, not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.” – Ephesians 4:3
We all were called to travel on the same road, so stay together in unity. He alone chose this for us, and He alone will guide us in the right direction if we wholeheartedly seek Him. We have only one Master, one faith, one baptism and one God. Everything you are and think and do is through His power and glory.
“He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11-13
Out of the generosity and the grace of Christ, each of us were given a gift. How blessed are we? Each one of us have been given their own uniquely skilled servant work, so that we may go out there and gather His children and help build His Kingdom.
No more babes in the woods, no more children who are an easy mark for impostors. This will not be tolerated. God wants us to grow up and to know the whole truth and tell it in love, just like Christ. Let God be your Leader on this one and only path. He keeps us together. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love.
And so, let there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. But that’s not a life for us. Through faith in Christ and paying good attention to His teachings, we will be well instructed in the Truth. So, we don’t have an excuse for our ignorance, we don’t have an excuse for anything, ever. Anything connected with the old way of living, has to go. Take on an entire new life, traveling for Him. A life renewed from the inside and working itself through God.
“What this adds up to, then, is this: no more lies, no more pretense. Tell your neighbor the truth. In Christ’s body we’re all connected to each other, after all. When you lie to others, you end up lying to yourself.” – Ephesians 4:25
Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life. Stop with all the lies, stealing, dirty talking. Be gentle with one another. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.
So, let us all help each other walk this righteous path of God. Let us all be the righteous travelers of His Kingdom.
