This weekend was the first ever Mighty Family Festival (Following the recent Mighty Men and Worthy Women conferences across South Africa).
It was a lovely hot day on Yellowoods farm when different gospel artists and speakers started to praise the name of Jesus from the balcony of the Yellowoods Restaurant. Families slowly arrived and spread out on picnic blankets and camping chairs in the shade of trees and tents setup on the bank of the river. Kids played together and parents sat down to listen to the music and speakers.
It was a relatively small group (+_ 100) that listened intently that evening to Fergus Buchan preach on Eph 5, 6 specifically addressing wives, husbands and children, highlighting each’s role and responsibility in a godly family, but the size of the group did not diminish the effect on each person who really took the message to heart that evening. It was very special when at the end every family stood up together to pray and the evening ended appropriately with praise and worship.
The next morning everyone bundled into the restaurant for the morning service as God has answered the previous night’s prayers for rain! In the Gap Clothing‘s stall, thankfully, was relatively waterproof! Fergus Buchan spoke again, this time on Faith, urging us to trust God and be obedient in faith according to Hebr 11. Many stood at the end when the invitation was to trust God for healing in their bodies as Fergus prayed.
The weekend was very special to everyone who attended and an expectation was birthed as to what lies ahead the next year when we meet as families. This after all is only the beginning of Mighty Families and we will trust God that this will become a yearly event that will touch thousands of families from across South Africa.
