Change is as good as a holiday!

26 May 2014 / 3 Comments / in Behind the scenes, Christian Clothing, More about In the Gap Clothing/by admin

To say that www.inthegapclothing.co.za has had a major overhaul feels a bit like an understatement.

After weeks of sweat, tears and maaaaany cups of coffee, juggling plugins, pages, photos (and a very energetic one year old in the In the Gap Clothing NEW websitemix) paid off, and we are launching our NEW website!!

Why New, you ask?

Well apart from the fact that I do get bored quickly 😉 our new website has better functionality:

* We now accept credit card /debit card payments through PayFast

* Online Shop is quickly accessible

* New professional Product photos.

* Share buttons allow you to quickly share the items you like on Facebook or Pinterest.

Of course we always welcome feedback, so take a moment and tell us what do you think of the new website or share it with friends so that they can also come and enjoy it. 🙂

So Blessed at Aardklop 2013

16 Oct 2013 / 2 Comments / in Christian Clothing, Events and Markets, More about In the Gap Clothing/by admin

We left early from the Strawberry Festival in George. We had a long road ahead of us, and did not want to get there too late. Just before 1 in the morning we arrived at a friend’s house in Bloemfontein where we could get some sleep before continuing our journey the next day. Potchefstroom is far from Mossel Bay!

20130927_140840The next day we were on the road again bright and early and  just in time for registration and setting up our stall, we arrived at the Festival Grounds in Potchefstroom. It was a hot day and our winter clothes soon got shed as we embraced the Summer. Some friendly staff directed us to our space where we could set up stall. But when we got there, there was no place set out for us. We asked around, and waited quite a while, when finally they came back and told us that they would have to move us to another place. This new spot was in the middle of the the tents and the Stage, a much more prominent place than the one we would have had. Praise God!

The Festival started off with dear friends of ours coming to visit us from Johannesburg. (We felt so special that they drove all the way and paid the entrance fees just to come see us!) The rest of the day,a public holiday, continued to be blessed as families and individuals walked through our stall to admire and buy the Christian T-shirts.

Wednesday was quiet. After the day before it seemed strange that we had so few customers, and at the end of the day we wondered if it 20130926_105821was worth coming all this way. When I look back to it now, I think this was a test from God, to see  if we would continue to trust in Him.

We spoke to some other stall owners who were quite negative. This being our first time, we did not realize the change for some of the other stalls. Apparently the grounds have moved this year, and the entrance fees were much higher than previous years. Stalls lost a lot of business because of this. Some came to the end of the Festival and could not even cover their expenses.

The next day it picked up again for us and in the following days we broke our sales record twice! God was so good to us. At times it was spinning inside our little stall as people came in and picked up T-shirts left and right. We praise God for His Favour and Grace towards us, that in the midst of unfavourable circumstances He blessed us and we were able to cover all our expenses and receive even more from His hand.

We experienced God’s favour with people as well, who were all so kind and gracious to us and our little boy. In fact our 8 month old son was really quite the centre of attention as customers and stall owners alike came to see him and play with him. The one day someone from a stall next to us brought a large container and filled it with water, so he could have his own “swimming pool” to play in.

2 Chron 16:9 says “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” We are so blessed that we could experience how He showed Himself strong on our behalf.

All in all, we enjoyed Aardklop so much, experienced God’s favour and we are really looking forward to going back next year!

Hope Town T-shirts

15 Oct 2013 / 0 Comments / in Christian Clothing, More about In the Gap Clothing/by admin

We recently printed some T-shirts with the Names of Jesus in the form of a cross for the AGS Church in Hopetown for their camp. Apparently they had a very blessed time!

Why Christian T-shirts?

12 Nov 2012 / 1 Comment / in Christian Clothing, Inspirational, More about In the Gap Clothing, Popular Reads/by admin

Why would someone wear a T-shirt with a cross or a Bible verse, showing the world that he is a Christian?

Why are Christian and religious T-shirts and clothing becoming more popular and widespread in many cultures around the world?

Why do we promote Christian Clothing?

Our foundation, as always, is to go back to what Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they
put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” – Matt 5:14-15  and

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matt 28:19-20

In the past few decades wearing a  T-shirt has become a  terrific way to make a statement. To advertise or promote something you stand for, and even to rebel or protest something you’re against. Generally, most people would choose clothing with statements that they can identify with. Recently I very much identified with a statement on a pajama top in a shop. It said: “Get me some coffee and no one gets hurt!” 🙂

So what do you identify with? What are you passionate about? What is the “light” in you that shines out and you can’t hide, even if you tried?

As for me; I am passionate about Jesus. And I want to see people meet Him and know Him for who He is. And consequently I see Christian Clothing as a powerful tool to shine light in a dark world.

For one, people will immediately see what you stand for and what you believe, even before you say anything. And if you live out what you wear, people will approach you to find out more about the light that you are carrying. (Please, if you intend to walk over people, live for yourself and not follow Jesus’ way of life  then do not think that you will bring about any change by wearing a T-shirt with a Christian message!) It is said of St Francis of Assissi that he taught the following: “Preach the gospel always and if necessary use words”

Secondly, it gives hope! Someone, somewhere might be touched by the message that you are proclaiming, even if you don’t get the chance to speak to that person. I have a friend who shared the testimony of going through a really tough time, and one day while she was on her way somewhere, she saw a man with a T-shirt that said: Jesus loves you. At that moment she was reminded of His love for her and she felt that He had used this man (and the T-shirt) to speak personally to her at that time. This testimony reminded me that you never know how God can use what we bring to Him…as long as we do bring it!

So be encouraged and wear your faith on your sleeve (pun intended!)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” Rom 1:16

Welcome to In the Gap Clothing

03 Sep 2012 / 2 Comments / in Behind the scenes, Christian Clothing, More about In the Gap Clothing/by admin

What are we all about??

Well, it all started with a dream. When my husband awoke one morning with several designs still in his mind, he realized that the dream of printing Christian t-shirts was from God. More than a year later (in God’s perfect time) the opportunity came to start our Christian Clothing Company and countless details fell into place within a matter of weeks. We were amazed at our King, knowing that this step and the timing was from Him.

In the Gap Clothing is situated in Mossel Bay, South Africa, and we seek to design and distribute quality Christian clothing aimed at promoting Kingdom life.

Making T-shirts – the Screen printing process

22 Aug 2012 / 6 Comments / in Behind the scenes, More about In the Gap Clothing, Popular Reads/by admin

How does Screenprinting work?

About two years ago, when my husband and I started this business, Screenprinting was a foreign idea to me. I looked at all the equipment that we brought home and listened to the processes with a blank look and wondered how I would ever be able to master this technique in our business.

Preparing the screen

Now a year later I am amazed at what I’ve learned along the way and very grateful to a lot of people and resources that have helped get us this far… With that in mind I would like to share with you the basics of our screen printing process and maybe point you to some resources that have helped me get started!

 1. Get an idea…. My husband had a dream about printing Christian T-shirts and now also get most of the ideas for our T-shirts. Some of the most successful designs was born out of time spent with God and him scribbling it on paper in his quiet time.

2. Design…. This for me is the most fun part. Corel Draw is the program I use to Read more →
