Why would someone wear a T-shirt with a cross or a Bible verse, showing the world that he is a Christian?
Why are Christian and religious T-shirts and clothing becoming more popular and widespread in many cultures around the world?

Why do we promote Christian Clothing?
Our foundation, as always, is to go back to what Jesus said:
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they
put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” – Matt 5:14-15 and
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matt 28:19-20
In the past few decades wearing a T-shirt has become a terrific way to make a statement. To advertise or promote something you stand for, and even to rebel or protest something you’re against. Generally, most people would choose clothing with statements that they can identify with. Recently I very much identified with a statement on a pajama top in a shop. It said: “Get me some coffee and no one gets hurt!” 🙂
So what do you identify with? What are you passionate about? What is the “light” in you that shines out and you can’t hide, even if you tried?
As for me; I am passionate about Jesus. And I want to see people meet Him and know Him for who He is. And consequently I see Christian Clothing as a powerful tool to shine light in a dark world.
For one, people will immediately see what you stand for and what you believe, even before you say anything. And if you live out what you wear, people will approach you to find out more about the light that you are carrying. (Please, if you intend to walk over people, live for yourself and not follow Jesus’ way of life then do not think that you will bring about any change by wearing a T-shirt with a Christian message!) It is said of St Francis of Assissi that he taught the following: “Preach the gospel always and if necessary use words”
Secondly, it gives hope! Someone, somewhere might be touched by the message that you are proclaiming, even if you don’t get the chance to speak to that person. I have a friend who shared the testimony of going through a really tough time, and one day while she was on her way somewhere, she saw a man with a T-shirt that said: Jesus loves you. At that moment she was reminded of His love for her and she felt that He had used this man (and the T-shirt) to speak personally to her at that time. This testimony reminded me that you never know how God can use what we bring to Him…as long as we do bring it!
So be encouraged and wear your faith on your sleeve (pun intended!)
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” Rom 1:16
