Windy Stilbaai. That was my first impression, when we arrived at Ellenrust Campsite early Friday morning to set up stall for the Freedom Road Bikers Rally. I was glad we decided to come with the caravan and not our tent. But as unwelcome as the weather, so friendly and welcoming was the people we met. Not too long and we had someone helping us with the caravan’s tent and everyone greeted and welcomed us warmly.
Pretty soon, we felt like family. And that is what I experienced that whole weekend. The CMA coffee tent, across from us (good location! 🙂 ) boasted with the slogan: “Come as you are”. And people did. Everyone did. No one pretended to be more or less of who they were and for me the message of the weekend was that Jesus’ arms, and the church of God’s arms are open to anyone and everyone without judgement. After all, why try to change yourself, before coming to the One who truly can change you (and soooo much better than we can!)
And the weather didn’t hold anyone back from having a good time! Bikers (and some non-bikers) from everywhere enjoyed the games, messages, worship and “kuier” . The highlight of Saturday was when everyone gathered in the street and watched amazed as some of the bikers did some stunts. Wheelies, burn-outs and stoppies (honestly did not know what this was before I saw it!) It was great.
Thanks to everyone who came to visit our stall and supported us. It was awesome to meet you all!
Below are some photos of our time there…
